The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology will host the second Conference on
Science at the Sanford Underground Research Facility to address scientific research
related to the laboratory in nearby Lead, SD. Scientists from around the world are
conducting the MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR project, CASPAR, SIGMA-V, and other experiments in geology, astrophysics, biology, and engineering. Planned experiments at the laboratory include the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) and the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter search.

Scientific areas of discussion include: Neutrino Oscillations, Proton Decay, Nuclear
Astrophysics, Dark Matter, Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay, Materials Science
for Nuclear and Particle Physics, Geology, and Astrobiology and Life in Extreme
Environments.  Tours of the Sanford Underground Research Facility will be available as part of the conference.

Abstract submission is now open from the menu on the left. You may submit your abstract in the text box provided or attach a PDF. Please submit your abstracts by April 20, 2017. You may need to create an account on our instance of Indico to submit an abstract.
Registration after April 30, 2017 will incur a $50 late fee.
In order to increase the participation of under-represented minorities and junior physicists, we will provide travel awards of up to $600 for under-represented minorities and junior physicists (post-doctoral researchers and graduate students). Preference will be given to applicants giving talks or presenting posters at the Conference. The online application consists of basic information and a research abstract. For full consideration, applications are due by March 31, 2017.
